THE DOLPHINS CHAPTER of F.M.C.A. HISTORY

"National RV, Inc. - The Dolphins" is a Chapter of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) that was formed at FMCA's Annual Winter Convention in San Antonio, Texas in March 1989. At that time the Dolphin owners attending the convention met and voted to organize a chapter exclusively for owners of National RV, Inc manufactured motorhomes. The twenty members required for a charter organized on March 9, 1989. The eligible motorhomes then included Dolphin Class A, Dolphin Mini, Las Brisas, Sea Breeze, and Tropi-Cal motorhomes. Since that time some of these models have been discontinued while others like the Tradewinds, Marlin, Islander, Caribbean, Surf Side, Sea View and Pacifica have been added. Owners of any model of motorhome manufactured by National RV, Inc. are eligible to join the club. Since we are a Chapter of FMCA, membership in the Family Motor Coach Association is also required.

Members of our Chapter live in all parts of the United States and Canada, so we are classified as an International Chapter, and thus join other manufacturer chapters in international activities. All members of our chapter may attend other FMCA chapter activities. If you read about an upcoming event of another chapter, do not hesitate to sign up and attend.

The Dolphins are most active in the Southern California area. However, our Northern and Central California, and Arizona areas are becoming more active all the time. All Dolphin members are welcome to attend any campout scheduled while visiting the different areas.

Semi-Annual general membership meetings are held for the Dolphin members. Special meetings may be called, when the need arises, by the President or the governing board of our organization. General membership and board meetings are usually held at campouts. Members may also attend FMCA area rallies. We usually meet with our coaches at a pre-arranged location, then caravan to the entrance of the rally, thus enabling us to park together. This permits us to participate and enjoy the large group events and also our own group activities. FAMILY MOTOR COACHING provides monthly information regarding their upcoming activities.

The purpose of our Chapter is to promote fun, fellowship, and friendship among the many proud owners of National RV, Inc. motorhomes. We offer membership to all owners of motor coaches produced by National RV, Inc., and strive to provide helpful exchanges of ideas for travel, RV maintenance and other information about our coaches. Our monthly newsletter (The Splash) is available by mail, e-mail or on our website for all members and provides information on past and future campouts, rallies and conventions.
